Welcome to old-magnolia-studios.co.uk – Well, the kit is set up, the Mac is cooking up some megabytage of Rock and Roll. The crushed old leather settee is looking worn and great. Amps simmer, pedals lay cranked and ready, a few Fender guitars and assorted acoustic’s sit on stands and against low wooden drawers. Ancient blues vibes trickle from some speakers above a working desk.
This is the hang out of Western Democracy – inanityUK’s sound engine and music dev project. Western Democracy delivers Hard – Solid Sound – Guitar based Music for a Beating Heart and Seeking Eye. Progressive Blues Rock with Depth and Soul. It is STRONGLY recommended that you use QUALITY headphones or HI-FI speakers to listen to the tracks. Your mobile devices speakers will NOT support nor supply the full dynamic and high energy levels of sound the guys record.
The new digs are now transported, transformed and updated with content, of which there is a large old tea chest full of work in progress sitting right here – Some fine tuning of the appearance, getting things cosy and wandering the corridors will be going on. Right now though the bolt is slide back and we are opened up for passing trade and regulars.
OMS is a Blog- It will host the music, as a mirror so to speak, of the main project website:
But it is mainly a place to outline, review and generally post about the studio’s creative life.
Currently the place is running a Macintosh computer and for DAW, GarageBand – fed by a ZoomR8 interface. Small but highly adaptive and very versatile hardware.
Computer wise the kit is atm: An iMac running (via OCLP) Sonoma. That is in itself and entirely different technical project.
So on the hardware front I may upgrade as demands dictate. But our rule here at OMS is, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it – less is more, and we have a love of using old kit. When able.
Further studio/config news as I find time and interesting notes come to life.
